CREATIVE STATEMENT
My interest in greetings cards began when I was child. My aunty always used to buy me the most amazing Christmas and birthday cards. Sometimes they would be pop up ones but they always contained a world or scene and an engaging character and I have always found this captivating. Over the years, my expertise in greetings cards has developed due to taking numerous courses and taking on commissions from greetings card companies. I feel this has helped me to learn and develop my style. I nurture this focus by going to shops to do research and looking at trends that are in homeware and decor. What I love most about greetings card design is its ability to create characters and little scenes. I like to imagine them living in the little worlds and see the cards as little theatres. For me, the two most important qualities of a successful greetings card illustration are to convey a message and create joy for the person who receives it.
