CREATIVE STATEMENT
My interest in branding began as a teenager, creating shirts and flyers for ska and punk bands around Southern California. I’ve always loved the idea of creating energy around an event or a thing that might otherwise go unknown or unappreciated. It’s my small way of helping build the world I want to experience as a consumer—one that is also beneficial to the people creating it. Over the years, my ability to create standout imagery for brands has developed through the evolution of my fine art practice. My visual voice becomes part of a brand’s story, and we work together to create something wildly unique.
As an illustrator specializing in branding, I nurture this focus by creating work with a distinct point of view—something that feels immediate, memorable, and unmistakably its own. What I love most about this work is its ability to stand out on a shelf and really be seen. To create a successful branding illustration, I believe the tone and personality of the brand always need to be at the forefront. For me, the two most important qualities of a successful packaging illustration are tone and clarity. I want the work to have a strong point of view while still making it clear to the customer what they’re getting. To maintain my skill set, I keep an eye on the world around me. I focus on creating new and unique work while paying attention to what’s happening today—and what might be happening tomorrow.

What is your favorite logo?
Burberry’s knight logo is so cool. It’s hand-drawn and gives me a distinct feeling of time and place. Maybe it’s too old-fashioned, but I still love it.
Which brand do you most admire for its use of illustration?
Probably Adult Swim. I love the way they throw all kinds of styles and mediums together. It tells a story, and you immediately know you’re in for something totally insane.
What packaging would be your dream job?
Any kind of can or bottle would be amazing. Wrangler, Levi’s, Brixton Supply Co., Chipotle—any burrito place!
