CREATIVE STATEMENT
My interest in pattern design grew through years of developing artwork for textiles, fashion, gift, and home products. At JoAnn Fabrics, I worked with fabric collections, seasonal assortments, trend direction, color palettes, and print development. At Lucky Day Studio, I developed surface pattern and artwork collections across multiple consumer product categories. I love the challenge of creating patterns that feel fresh and distinctive while working beautifully on product. To create successful pattern design, I believe it’s important to balance strong composition, thoughtful color, trend awareness, and a clear sense of personality.
Q&A
What industry do you most enjoy creating patterns for?
I love creating for gift packaging and stationery. That product category is near and dear to my heart—it's where I started right our of college and I'm proud to say I still get excited when I see my work out in the "wild!"
Where do you find inspiration?
Inspiration can strike in so many places. I love retail shopping to get color inspiration. Also museums and galleries are great for inspiring new ideas in style and technique. Pop culture is a huge inspiration to me for concepts and product ideas.
What would be your dream pattern job?
I would love to design more fabric again. The idea that someone could make a whole new thing out of fabric I designed was something I loved about working at JoAnns.
